David & Ashley Petersen
Dave & Ashley Petersen serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).
"We are a pilot and mechanic family assigned to the MAF flight program based in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. MAF reaches the world's most isolated people with the love of Jesus, using airplanes, technology, and related training, so that lives, churches, and communities can be transformed. Currently we are finishing pre-field training prior to our departure for French language school in France this August after which we will go straight to DRCongo. Our ministry is/will be to support the established church in Congo, facilitate relief and development from the years of war, provide medical assistance, be available for evacuation needs in times of civil unrest, and enable isolated local and expatriate missionaries to serve in their locations through flight support. Congo is a country devastated from centuries of war and corruption. We together with the rest of the MAF east DRC team will seek to continue facilitating God's work in Congo that every one of the more than 200 people groups and languages will be represented in heaven some day. Our specific path of ministry over this next year will be to learn French which is the government language spoken in Congo. We depart for Albertville, France in late August 2014 and will study there for ten months prior to arriving on site in eastern Congo."
